Coffee Sleeve FAQ, Tips & Templates
FAQ
Where can I buy Java Jackets®?
You can order directly online using our secure ordering system at our shop or through our partnered nationwide distributors. Please call us at 1-800-208-4128 or email us at operations@javajacket.com
Are coffee sleeves and cup sleeves the same thing?
Yes. Coffee sleeve, cup sleeve, coffee cup sleeve, coffee collar, coffee clutch, coffee jacket, cup jacket and java sleeve all name the same corrugated band that slides onto a hot cup. Java Jacket® is our brand name for it. Buy stock coffee sleeves by the case, or order custom cup sleeves printed with your logo.
What are the minimum order quantities?
Stock sleeves start at one case: 1,300 Original sleeves or 1,000 Eco II sleeves. Custom Original Small and Large orders start at 40 cases (52,000 sleeves); Eco II starts at 60 cases (60,000 sleeves). The Original Medium custom minimum is quoted on contact. Compare bulk and wholesale ordering or read our custom printing policy.
How long do stock and custom orders take?
Stock orders placed before 2 PM Pacific on a business day ship the same day. Custom production takes 4–6 weeks after confirmation and a signed proof, plus transit. Wholesale orders move by LTL freight, typically 1–2 weeks in transit; smaller orders use the selected FedEx service. Carrier times vary by destination and season and are not guaranteed by Java Jacket. See our shipping policy.
Is there any price difference between sizes?
No. The price is based on the paper stock and number of inks rather than size.
What's the difference between Original Large and Eco II Java Jacket®?
Both lines are corrugated coffee sleeves. Original comes in 1,300-sleeve cases, with Small for 8 oz cups, Medium for 10 oz, and Large for 12–24 oz. Eco II comes in 1,000-sleeve cases, with Small for 8 oz and Large for 10–24 oz. Cup shape affects fit; request samples to check your cup. See the materials and size comparison for exact die-line dimensions.
Is custom printing available?
Yes. We use flexographic spot printing with up to six colors: CMYK counts as four colors printed as process screens, with up to two additional spot colors. Ink setup fees apply and depend on the quote. Choose one paper type per order and use our custom coffee sleeve printing page to request an estimate.
Why does my art proof look different than my submitted artwork?
We sometimes need to adjust artwork to optimize it for our printing press. These adjustments ensure the final product looks as close as possible to your original design while maintaining print quality. You will go through a approval review process before your order is placed.
Do you offer custom art design?
While we can't create logos from scratch, we're happy to add elements like drink check boxes, social media icons, coupons, and contact information to your custom Java Jacket®.
What makes Java Jacket® special?
Java Jacket invented the coffee sleeve in 1991; the waffle-texture insulation design received a US patent in 1995. Every sleeve is made from recycled material, is recyclable where paper and corrugated packaging is accepted, and is 100% compostable in a commercial composting facility.
What materials do you use?
Choose Natural Kraft, White Kraft Back, Solid White, or Glossy Clay Newsback. All sleeves use water-based, FDA food-safe inks and non-toxic, biodegradable adhesives. Select Original and Eco II sleeves are FSC-certified and BPI-certified compostable; contact us for certified product names. Recycling acceptance depends on the local program, and composting requires a commercial composting facility.

Tips & Tricks
Build Your Brand with Custom Printing
Custom printed Java Jacket® sleeves showcase your logo and increase brand recognition when drinks are on-the-go. We offer up to 6 colors on Natural Kraft, White Kraft Back, Solid White, or Glossy Clay Newsback.
Advertising Potential
Use your Java Jacket® as valuable advertising space. Include your logo, contact information, directions, or brand messaging for maximum visibility.
Networking & Co-branding
Partner with a non-competing local business: your brand on the front panel, theirs on the back panel. Their placement fee can offset your print cost. The co-branded sleeve guide shows how to split a run.
Functional Features
Add drink order checkboxes or loyalty punch cards to your sleeves. Our in-house design team can help create multi-functional sleeves that serve both practical and marketing purposes.
Promotional Opportunities
Transform your sleeves into promotions by adding coupons or special offers. This encourages repeat business and extends the sleeve's usefulness.
QR Codes & Barcodes
Track inventory or direct customers to your website with barcodes and QR codes. These interactive elements connect your physical product to your digital presence.
Printing Capabilities
We offer a variety of printing options to bring your vision to life:
- Pantone™ Formula Guide Coated & Uncoated Color Inks for vibrant, consistent printing
- Full bleed printing capabilities
- Mixed cases with one paper type per order: up to 4 artwork variations per Original custom order or 5 per Eco II order
- White ink available for Natural Kraft Java Jackets®
- Metallic & Pastel inks (Fluorescent Pantone™ inks not available)
- Halftone screens for gradients and opacity effects
- Color matching services available
Design Tips
For optimal results:
- When using black in Adobe Illustrator™, assign it as 0%C 0%M 0%Y 100%K rather than Rich CMYK Black
- On Natural Kraft paper, light colors (especially yellows, light greens, and light browns) may blend in. Reds, blues, and darker colors provide better contrast
- For color-critical projects, ask about our color matching and swatch services
